Ohio handles Covid-19 vaccines hesitantly with $ 1 million lottery incentives
May 13, 2021Government officials in Ohio have new plans that can increase the level of Covid-19 vaccination in the country: get vaccination and you will get the chance to get a $ 1 million prize. The new incentives were announced today by Governor Ohio Mike Dewine, who said that every week for five weeks, adults who were vaccinated in the state would be valued at $ 1 million.
The Covid-19 vaccine is widely available for adults in the United States, and in many places getting it as simple as an appointment at the local pharmacy. Even so, many people still are not vaccinated for various reasons, including everything starting from conspiracy theories about safety to the general ambivalence regarding a person’s personal risk to sign a virus.
Ohio has opened a covid-19 vaccine promise for anyone who wants it since the end of March. According to the Covid-19 CDC vaccine data tracker, almost 42 percent of people in Ohio have received at least the first dose of vaccine.
The new Covid-19 vaccine lottery aims to increase this number by giving a total of five people with $ 1 million each. The lottery will open for adults who receive at least one dose of vaccine in the state, with the winner announced every Wednesday for five weeks. The Governor’s Office of Dewine has dubbed the ‘Ohio Vax-A-million’ initiative, noting that the first winner will be selected on May 26.
Winners will be selected from the base of the state voter registration data, which means you must be registered to choose if you want to take money. Meanwhile, the state also promised five full scholarships for teenagers aged 12 to 17 years that can register to be included on May 18.
